€10.50 per started day: the official daily rate (ISK 1,390 in 2026), passed on without markup or VAT, plus our processing charge including VAT (rental terms, clause 41).
BASIC + SCDW included — excess €1,000
On our website every price includes BASIC + SCDW, which lowers your excess for covered damage from €3,000 to €1,000. Optional upgrades: add Tire and Windshield Protection (TWP) for €20 a day for the cover of PLUS, or choose MAX for €40 a day: excess €0, TWP and Sand and Ash Protection (SAP) included, and wheels and tires covered too (not damage only to suspension, batteries, roof or radios). No cover option covers undercarriage or water damage.
Winter tires in season
Fitted on every car from 1 November to 14 April, at no extra charge.
Keflavík Airport shuttle
Included during opening hours (04:00–20:00): call or WhatsApp us when you have your bags and we pick you up outside the arrivals hall. Our office is about 10 minutes from the terminal.
Meet-up details confirmed before travel
Give us your flight number; after-hours pickups and returns are only on request, agreed in advance.
Documented condition record
At pickup you walk around the car and we send you our photos and 360° video. Any damage charge comes with written notice, photos and the repair estimate or invoice first (rental terms, clauses 10 and 13).
N1 fuel discount
An N1 fuel-discount tag on your keyring gives a discount when you fill up at N1 stations.

F-roads (mountain roads)
Only if approved — F-roads, Kjölur (road 35 from road 37 to road 732), Kaldidalur (550), Öxi (939) and roads 586 and 864 are allowed only in a four-wheel-drive vehicle (4x4, 4WD or AWD) that your booking confirms as F-road approved, and only when officially open (F-roads usually open in June or early July and close again from around mid-September). Excluded even then: F26, F88, F225, F249, F910 and the other F-roads listed in clause 16 of the rental terms. Check umferdin.is / Vegagerðin for current status before heading into the highlands.

Rivers are entirely at your own risk — driving into or across any river, stream or ford, even on a permitted F-road, with any vehicle or cover option. No waiver covers water damage: you pay the repair, or the car's value, plus towing (rental terms, clause 17). If water covers the road, stop and wait or turn back.

What makes Highland 4×4 different from 4×4 Adventure?
Size, clearance and comfort, not road access. Highland 4×4 vehicles, like the Toyota Land Cruiser, are bigger, with more ground clearance, more room and low-range gearing, which makes them our most capable category for deep winter. The road rules are the same as for 4×4 Adventure: F-roads, Kjölur (road 35 from road 37 to road 732), Kaldidalur (550), Öxi (939) and roads 586 and 864 only in a car that your booking confirms as F-road approved, only when officially open, and never the excluded F-roads (rental terms, clause 16).
Can I cross rivers in a Highland 4×4?
We strongly advise against it. More clearance does not change the rule: driving into or across any river, stream or ford is entirely at your own risk, on every vehicle and every cover level, and no waiver covers water damage (rental terms, clause 17). If water covers the road, stop and turn back.
How old do I need to be to rent a Highland 4×4?
At least 25, though at our discretion we may rent it to drivers aged 20–24 for the young driver fee of €15 a day. There is no maximum age. Every driver needs a physical driving license, held for at least one year and valid for the whole rental (rental terms, clauses 2 and 3). A standard category B license is all you need — no special permit.
Is a Highland 4×4 good for winter driving?
Yes — it is our most capable category for winter: four-wheel drive with low-range gearing, the most ground clearance of our cars, and winter tires in season. For remote winter routes or the Westfjords in deep winter, this is the class we point to.
When do F-roads open for Highland 4×4 trips?
F-roads usually open in June or early July, each road on its own date depending on the highland snow, and close again from around mid-September. Vegagerðin posts daily status on umferdin.is; check it before you set out, whatever the calendar says. Only a car your booking confirms as F-road approved may use them.
