Common questions about this car
Can I drive the Ring Road (Route 1) in an Everyday car?
Yes — Route 1 is fully paved. An Everyday car handles it comfortably in summer. In winter, conditions can be icy; an AWD Comfort SUV gives extra confidence, but an Everyday car is legally permitted year-round on Route 1.
Can I take an Everyday car on F-roads (mountain roads)?
No. F-roads are unpaved highland tracks that require a genuine 4×4 by Icelandic law. Taking an Everyday car on an F-road voids your insurance and is illegal. If you plan F-roads, choose our 4×4 Adventure class instead.
Is an Everyday car safe in Icelandic winter?
Everyday cars come with winter tyres in season, which is the legal minimum. They are front-wheel drive, so on icy highland roads an AWD vehicle is significantly safer. For winter driving we recommend at least the Comfort class.
Is the road-use charge shown before I book?
Yes. The ISK 1,550 per started day road-use charge is shown in your price breakdown before booking. It currently includes the ISK 1,390 official rental-car daily fee plus an ISK 160 processing estimate.
How much luggage and how many bags fit in an Everyday car?
Everyday cars typically fit 2 medium suitcases (55–65 cm) and a couple of carry-on bags. If you are travelling with more gear or large bags, a Comfort SUV or a Family & Space van will be more comfortable.
