Free cancellation (refundable rate)
Refundable rates: cancel up to 48 hours before pickup, no charge. Non-refundable rates cost less but aren't refundable.
Road-use charge next to every price, itemized on the quote
€10.50 per started day: the official daily rate (ISK 1,390 in 2026), passed on without markup or VAT, plus our processing charge including VAT (rental terms, clause 41).
BASIC + SCDW included — excess €1,000
On our website every price includes BASIC + SCDW, which lowers your excess for covered damage from €3,000 to €1,000. Optional upgrades: add Tire and Windshield Protection (TWP) for €20 a day for the cover of PLUS, or choose MAX for €40 a day: excess €0, TWP and Sand and Ash Protection (SAP) included, and wheels and tires covered too (not damage only to suspension, batteries, roof or radios). No cover option covers undercarriage or water damage.
Winter tires in season
Fitted on every car from 1 November to 14 April, at no extra charge.
Keflavík Airport shuttle
Included during opening hours (04:00–20:00): call or WhatsApp us when you have your bags and we pick you up outside the arrivals hall. Our office is about 10 minutes from the terminal.
Meet-up details confirmed before travel
Give us your flight number; after-hours pickups and returns are only on request, agreed in advance.
Documented condition record
At pickup you walk around the car and we send you our photos and 360° video. Any damage charge comes with written notice, photos and the repair estimate or invoice first (rental terms, clauses 10 and 13).
N1 fuel discount
An N1 fuel-discount tag on your keyring gives a discount when you fill up at N1 stations.

F-roads (mountain roads)
Only if approved — F-roads, Kjölur (road 35 from road 37 to road 732), Kaldidalur (550), Öxi (939) and roads 586 and 864 are allowed only in a four-wheel-drive vehicle (4x4, 4WD or AWD) that your booking confirms as F-road approved, and only when officially open (F-roads usually open in June or early July and close again from around mid-September). Excluded even then: F26, F88, F225, F249, F910 and the other F-roads listed in clause 16 of the rental terms. Check umferdin.is / Vegagerðin for current status before heading into the highlands.

Rivers are entirely at your own risk — driving into or across any river, stream or ford, even on a permitted F-road, with any vehicle or cover option. No waiver covers water damage: you pay the repair, or the car's value, plus towing (rental terms, clause 17). If water covers the road, stop and wait or turn back.

Can I drive F-roads (highland tracks) in a 4×4?
Only in a car your booking confirms as F-road approved, and only when the road is officially open: F-roads usually open in June or early July, each road on its own date depending on snow, and close again from around mid-September. Tell us about F-road plans when you book so the booking can confirm it. Even an approved car may not use the excluded F-roads, including F26 (Sprengisandur), F225 (Landmannaleið), F88 and F910 (Askja) and F249 (Þórsmörk) (rental terms, clause 16). Always check umferdin.is / Vegagerðin before heading into the highlands; conditions change quickly.
Can I cross rivers or drive through water in a 4×4?
We strongly advise against it. Driving into or across a river, stream or ford is entirely at your own risk, even on a permitted F-road: no waiver or cover option covers water damage, and you pay the full repair cost, or the car's value, plus towing (rental terms, clause 17). If water covers the road, stop and turn back.
Is the 4×4 the right choice for winter driving in Iceland?
Yes. The 4×4 Adventure category offers high ground clearance and four-wheel drive — a strong choice for harsh winter conditions, remote routes, and the Westfjords in season; Highland 4×4 adds more size and clearance. Winter tires are fitted from 1 November to 14 April.
When do F-roads typically open in Iceland?
F-roads usually open in June or early July, each road on its own date depending on snow, and close again from around mid-September. The exact dates vary each year; Vegagerðin publishes daily road status at umferdin.is.
Is the road-use charge shown in the 4×4 price?
Next to the day rate, which excludes it. The road-use charge is shown up front for every car category, including the 4×4: €10.50 per started day, made up of the official daily rate (ISK 1,390 in 2026), without markup or VAT, and our processing charge including VAT. Your quote adds it as its own line.
