Common questions about this car
Can a 9-seat van drive the full Ring Road (Route 1)?
Yes — Route 1 is fully paved and accessible to vans. The van is an excellent group vehicle for the Ring Road, the Golden Circle, and South Coast. Allow extra time on winding sections.
Can I take a van on F-roads or gravel highland tracks?
No. Vans are front-wheel drive with low ground clearance and are not permitted on F-roads. They are also not well-suited to narrow highland gravel tracks. For highland routes, the 4×4 is the right choice.
How much luggage fits in a 9-seat van?
With all seats in use, luggage space is limited — plan for one bag per person in the boot area. If you are travelling with fewer passengers, you can fold rear seats for significant extra cargo space.
Do I need a special licence for a 9-seat van?
Vehicles with 9 or more passenger seats may require a D1 licence category in Iceland. If you are unsure, contact us before booking and we will confirm the licence requirement for the specific vehicle.
Is the road-use charge shown up front for the van?
Yes. The ISK 1,550 per started day road-use charge is included in the price breakdown for all vehicles before booking.
From ~ISK 22,900/day (low-season from-price — summer rates are typically higher; your exact price is confirmed when you book):
- Rental (incl. CDW)
- ISK 22,900/day
- Road-use charge
- ISK 1,550/started day
- Estimate
- ISK 24,450/day
Road-use charge — ISK 1,550 per started rental day. This estimate splits to ISK 1,390 official rental-car daily fee plus an ISK 160 processing estimate. “Per started day” means a day begun counts as a full day (e.g. a 10-day rental = ISK 15,500). About the road fee →
