Road-use charge
Iceland’s official rental-car daily road fee is ISK 1,390 per started rental day. Your current estimate shows ISK 1,575 per started day: the official fee plus a ISK 185 processing estimate. The final fee is confirmed in your quote.

Official reference: island.is/en/kilometer-fee. Exact amount and any processing line are confirmed at booking.
No deposit — your card is just verified
We don't take a deposit. Your card is verified with a small pre-authorisation — a temporary hold, not a charge — released per your card issuer's procedures.
Your covered-damage excess: ISK 150,000 — not pre-held on your card.
- The card must be a physical credit or debit card in the renter's name, valid for at least 90 days after the rental ends — prepaid, anonymous, purchasing and virtual cards are not accepted.
- Accepted brands: American Express, Mastercard, Visa, Discover and Diners. A 3.5% transaction fee applies to American Express, Discover and Diners payments.
- The card on file may be charged for amounts owed under the rental agreement — for example damage not covered by a waiver, excess amounts, fees, fines, tolls, missing fuel, cleaning or towing — with an itemised notification.
Cash in USD, EUR, GBP or ISK may be accepted for payment on arrival; a card in the renter's name is still required for verification.
F-roads & water crossings
Only an approved 4×4 may drive on open, marked F-roads (mountain roads) — typically in summer, once they officially open. Always check road.is (Vegagerðin) before you go.
- Off-road driving is illegal anywhere in Iceland.
- River and water crossings are excluded under Ring Road Cars cover rules.
- Taking a 2WD onto an F-road can void cover.
- Drive a restricted road this car isn’t cleared for and you cover the actual recovery + damage — a ISK 150,000 minimum (off-road from ISK 150,000), charged only on evidence of a route breach.
F-road eligibility for your vehicle is confirmed at booking.
Keflavík (KEF) pickup & drop-off
Pickup, return, after-hours options, and the exact meet-up point are confirmed with your quote or booking. We do not offer city delivery to Reykjavík.
